Uses:
Applications for 18-8 stainless steel balls include dairy, brewery, paper, pulp, photographic chemicals, inks, synthetic fiber, textile benches and dye stuffs equipment.  Type 302 Stainless Steel balls are the most widely used of any unhardened stainless steel as 302 stainless steel balls are generally the least expensive of any 300 series material balls.

Corrosion Resistance:
The corrosion resistance of 18-8 or 302 stainless steel ball material is much better than the hardened type ball materials such as 416, 420 or 440C.   Type 302 balls do not stand up well to sea water, acetic acids, phosphoric acids or sulfurous acids.
