Hastelloy® Balls (Hastelloy is a registered trademark of Cabot Corp)

Uses:
Hastelloy balls are used extensively in check valves where maximum resistance to corrosion and wear are required.  Hastelloy C-276 balls are ideal for applications in petrochemical processing equipment. In the Aerospace industry, Hastelloy X weld balls are ideal for applications in the hot combustor zone sections of gas turbines. Hastelloy balls are used for structural components in industrial furnace applications because of excellent oxidation resistance.

Corrosion Resistance:
Hastelloy C-276 balls are resistant to strong oxidizing agents:  Nitric acid, free chlorine, aqueous solutions containing chlorine or hypochlorites, and acid solutions of ferric or cupric salts.  Hastelloy C-276 balls are also resistant hydrochloric acid at room temperature, highly resistant to acetic, formic, phosphoric, sulphurous, hydrofluoric acids, and excellent resistance to mixtures of zinc and ammonium chlorides.

Hastelloy X is a nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum alloy that has exceptional oxidation resistance and high-temperature strength.  In petrochemical applications Hastelloy X balls are resistant to stress-corrosion cracking.

Standard Fractional Hastelloy C-276
Hastelloy C-276 is the most common Hastelloy ball material.  Most standard fractional inch size Hastelloy C-276 balls are available off the shelf (see below), many other sizes and grades are also available from stock or special order.
